Metropolitan YMCA Singapore is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated instructors to inspire young learners and teens through enrichment programmes conducted at various preschools, student care centres, People’s Association centres, and Residents’ Network locations across Singapore.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

All freelance instructors will be expected to:

  • Deliver lessons based on the provided curriculum or lesson plans

  • Prepare for classes and create an engaging and enjoyable learning environment

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children during lessons

  • Maintain effective classroom management

  • Conduct assessments and record children’s progress at the end of each term

  • Maintain good relationships with children, parents, and centre staff where applicable

  • Take good care of assigned instruments, props, and teaching materials where applicable

GENERAL INFORMATION

Job Type: Freelance
Rate: $50–$70 per hour nett
Age Group: Children aged 3–12, depending on programme
Schedule: Classes are conducted at various locations and times across Singapore. Instructors may choose classes based on their availability, preferred schedules, and preferred locations.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for instructors who are:

  • Passionate about teaching and working with children

  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and reliable

  • Able to engage and manage groups of children effectively

  • Organised and committed to their assigned classes

  • Experienced in teaching children, preferably with at least 2 years of teaching experience

  • MOE and/or PA-registered applicants will have an advantage

HIP HOP / JAZZ DANCE INSTRUCTOR

Conduct fun and engaging dance programmes for children, helping them develop confidence, coordination, and enjoyment through movement.

Requirements:

  • Relevant dance teaching certification or equivalent professional dance qualification

  • Prior experience teaching children’s dance classes

MUSIC & MOVEMENT INSTRUCTOR

Conduct enriching Music & Movement experiences for children.

Requirements:

  • Grade 8 certification in a recognised music discipline

  • Ability to teach vocal and Orff-Schulwerk instruments preferred

  • 2–5 years of preschool teaching experience preferred

MUSIC KEYBOARD INSTRUCTOR

Conduct engaging group keyboard lessons for children.

Requirements:

  • Grade 8 Piano certification from a recognised institution

  • Able to conduct group keyboard lessons of approximately 45–60 minutes

  • At least 2 years of teaching experience preferred

SPEECH & DRAMA INSTRUCTOR

Conduct engaging Speech & Drama lessons that foster children’s confidence, creativity and love for language and theatre.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rehearsals and performance activities

  • Manage props, costumes and stage directions where required

Requirements:

  • Grade 7 certification in English Speech & Drama, or an equivalent professional qualification from an established local or international institution

  • Prior experience conducting children’s Speech & Drama classes

UKULELE INSTRUCTOR

Conduct lively and engaging ukulele lessons that introduce children to music in a fun and accessible way.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in playing the ukulele

  • Formal training or relevant certification preferred

VEX 123 ROBOTICS INSTRUCTOR

Conduct fun and engaging VEX 123 Robotics lessons for children, introducing them to basic coding, computational thinking, and problem-solving through hands-on activities.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or relevant qualification in Robotics, Engineering, Information Technology, Education, or a related field preferred

  • Familiarity with VEX 123 or other educational robotics platforms is an advantage

  • Experience conducting robotics or enrichment programmes for preschool children preferred

  • Able to explain basic coding and robotics concepts in a simple and engaging manner
